We can&#8217;t wait to introduce you to our dedicated staff, faculty, and students. We truly hope that your unique skills, intellectual curiosity, and passion will find a home at Hopkins.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all interviews will be conducted remotely in 2021<\/p>\n<h3><strong><em>Please read the following directions carefully:<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><!--\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>You will have the opportunity to join us for one of two recruitment weekends.\u00a0\u00a0The first recruitment weekend takes place Wednesday, February 12th - Friday, February 14th. The second recruitment weekend takes place Wednesday, February 26th - Friday, February 28th. For each weekend, recruits will arrive in Baltimore on Wednesday and depart on Friday. We will provide you with contact information for the travel agent with whom you will schedule the specific time of day for arrival and departure. Programming officially finishes Friday afternoon, after which you will be free to leave. If you would like to stay Friday night to experience Baltimore a little more, you can book your flight to leave Saturday. However, you are responsible for any costs associated with staying the extra night. You may feel free to reach out to us at BMEPhDRecruit@jhu.edu if you have any questions. All of these action items apply even if you are local to Baltimore. You will simply report that you will not need to book travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #dbdbdb;\"><strong>ACTION ITEM #1: RSVP with Interview Preference and Student Information Form <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>As soon as possible (no later than<strong><span style=\"color: #dbdbdb;\"> Wednesday, January 27th<\/span><\/strong>)\u00a0 submit the Interview Preference and Student Information form sent in your interview invitation email.\u00a0 <!-- Please note that you are giving your availability, and you will be assigned a week that most matches with the faculty who would like to meet you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>Please indicate one of the three following options: a) prefer February 12 - February 14, b) prefer February 26 - February 28, c) available for either February 12 - February 14 or February 26 - February 28. On January 28th, you will receive an email confirming which weekend you will attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n --><\/p>\n<p>Use the <a href=\"https:\/\/bme.phd.council.students.jh.edu\/?page_id=89\">Interviewing Faculty<\/a> page to fill out the interview preference portion of the form. The list provided is intended to be an exhaustive list of BME faculty who are interested in interviewing students. However, graduate students are permitted to select any Hopkins faculty member who holds a position as Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor as their primary thesis advisor. Therefore, if you are interested in a faculty member who is not listed, we will try to match your interests.<\/p>\n<p>At Johns Hopkins University, we take pride in fostering a community with rich diversity. You must book your travel through our agent. The department will be paying for all of your travel set up through the agent. We will additionally take care of all transport within Baltimore, including picking you up from the airport or train station. We will not cover your transport to and from your home airport or train station. For people local to Baltimore, no transport to events will be covered. For those who are close enough to drive, your mileage will not be covered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>For those attending the first recruitment weekend (February 12 - February 14), please have your travel arranged with our agent no later than <strong><span style=\"color: #dbdbdb;\">Monday, February 3rd<\/span><\/strong>. For those attending the second recruitment weekend (February 26 - February 28), your deadline for arranging travel will be <span style=\"color: #dbdbdb;\"><strong>Friday, February 7th<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: #dbdbdb;\"><strong>ACTION ITEM #4: Prospective Student Information Form<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<p>The BME PhD recruitment team want to plan a weekend that you will enjoy, so we ask that you answer a few questions to help us plan the events. You were VERY carefully selected from a pool of over 700 excellent applicants. As PhD students who went through this same process, our advice to you is to just relax, enjoy the moment, and come prepared. You were clearly a great candidate for many reasons. As such, you have been invited to these interviews so that we can determine if there is an excellent match between not only you and a professor, but between you and the community of Johns Hopkins as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>We recommend that you are prepared, having studied and read about the professors you are interested in. Expect to be challenged during your interviews. The best way to prepare for them is to know the professor&#8217;s work, the research field itself, and be able to express why you are a good match.
